Found your next great read on Shimmy? Here’s how to add it to your TBR.

Step 1: Create your account

To start buying (and selling) on Shimmy Books, you’ll need to create an account. We’ll just ask for the basics—your name, email, and reading preferences. Want to add a short bio or your socials? Go for it. We love connecting with readers on Goodreads, Bookstagram, and BookTok.

Step 2: Find a book you love

Browse by genre or search for specific titles or authors. Have a question about a listing? Just click “Contact” under the seller’s profile to message them directly.

Top Shimmy Tip: if a seller has listed a number of books you’d like, message them and ask if they’d be willing to bundle the books for a discount on shipping price. We find most of our wonderful sellers are happy to do so!

Step 3: Place your order

Once you’ve found the one, hit “Buy now” and fill in your delivery and payment details. There’s also space to leave a note—whether it's a shipping request or just a kind message for the seller (we’re big fans of bookish kindness around here.)

Step 4: Delivery time

Sellers aim to post orders promptly and will mark your book as “Sent” once it’s on its way. When it arrives, don’t forget to mark it as “Delivered” in your account—this helps release the funds to the seller. Don’t forget to leave a review - everyone loves to hear about how amazing our community is!

Step 5: Happy reading

That’s it! Light a candle, grab a blanket, and enjoy your new read.

Once you’re done? Shimmy it on to another home by listing it again!
